Last week Danica and Jameel had their Arboretum wedding. This one also happened to be on a Thursday which was a nice treat! We started downtown for getting ready at the Château Laurier and then headed to the Arboretum for all of the couple and family photos. This is followed by an open-air ceremony amongst the trees and meandering streams. We ended downtown where everyone stayed for the usual awesome Courtyard Restaurant dinner.
It was so peaceful and relaxed that I would like to recommend that all weddings take place during the week if it’s not too much of a bother for everyone. Much appreciated!

Leela and Pat are a wonderful couple who I had the pleasure of meeting through a referral. Together with their two daughters and family and friends they had a beautiful wedding in their country home’s yard in Wakefield, Quebec on Saturday.
When I arrived for their quick getting ready pictures it looked like we might be blessed with overcast weather – however shortly after the walk down the aisle the rain started to pick up. Leela, being one of the most easy going brides, wasn’t really phased by the rain nor did it put a damper on the day. Thank goodness for them purchasing two small tents at the last moment for the guests to gather under to watch the ceremony which included a couple interesting traditions: the smudging ritual and a sand ceremony!

Jennifer & Stephen had their Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club wedding a few weeks ago. Andrew first worked with these 2 last year for their engagement shoot which we shot downtown around the ByWard Market. At the time they were about as casual as they come, nothing was a big deal, and we had a relaxed and fun shoot. The wedding day was almost exactly the same; Jennifer was full of smiles and the occasional welling up of emotions and Stephen was a constant flow of beaming smiles and hilarious comments. The biggest difference is that they were so polished and striking on the outside; Jennifer in her gorgeous wedding dress and Stephen in his white Navy formals.
Basically, they were a dream to be around all day and their family and friends made everything infinitely better. I would wish them the best of luck in the future but I doubt they need anymore.

At the beginning of May I received an email from Catherine, a laid back Bride who was planning an amazing wedding at two of the most beautiful spots in Ottawa; The Basilica Notre Dame for the service and Canadian Aviation Museum for the reception.
After a long chat about artsy photos, cars and planes, they booked their photography package with just 22 days to go to the big day; so we had to get to know each other really quickly.
The day was very sunny and was a nice surprise because May’s weather can go either way. I loved the aviation theme that tied all the elements of the day together!
